Habakkuk 3:2–13
O Lord, I have heard of your renown, and I stand in awe, O Lord, of your work. In our own time revive it; in our own time make it known; in wrath may you remember mercy. Habakkuk 3:2
Each generation is tempted to pull away from its heritage. In some ways, this is good, but with faith, we are reminded of God’s power and faithfulness in present and past experiences, whether personal or learned from others.
Though God may work differently in your time, his character is consistent at all times. He never changes. In Romans 15:4, we’re reminded that, “things written in the past were not just for that generation, but also written to remind and encourage us and future generations.” As we read God’s word, we learn of his faithfulness, and we are reminded of his love for us. We become confident of his plans, which are good and never fail.
Prayer:
Father, give us a heart and a desire to know you in the most intimate of ways. Give us eyes to see what you’re doing in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Amen!
