Out of Darkness and into His Marvelous Light

(Read the previous devotion here.)

1 Peter 2:4–10

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9

Life is full of ups and downs and unexpected occurrences. Some days are wonderful, and some days are less than extraordinary. Some days are eventful, and some days are boring. Some days we feel happy, and some days we feel sad.

Last year, 2020, was full of darkness as we endured the pandemic. A lot of people died, a lot of people got sick, a lot of people were struggling in different ways, and a lot of people were anxious about the virus.

Some of us are living far away from our home countries, far away from our families. We have no support; every day feels like a struggle, where every battle is loss, and where we even question our own faith.

When we face days, weeks, and months like these, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s hard to see the end goal, and it’s hard to have no hope. I want to remind you today that there is a hope in Jesus Christ. He loves us and gives us hope. He is there with us in every moment, every step of the way.

God is always with us. He loves us unconditionally on our best and worst days. Believe in him, feel him in your heart, talk to him; he is always with us. When you believe, you will see the light, you will have answers, and you will understand. It is my desire as a follower of Christ to proclaim his mighty acts and always live in his marvelous light.

Prayer:

God, give us faith to believe in you. Make us strong, help those people who need your hand, and give us health. Amen.
