Blinded Eyes

(Read the previous devotion here.)

John 12:34–50

He has blinded their eyes

and hardened their heart,

so that they might not look with their eyes,

and understand with their heart and turn

and I would heal them.

John 12:40

There comes a time when God will give us strength in our decision of whether to choose Jesus or not. None of us can believe until God takes away our blindness. Our hearts are hard, and we can’t trust Jesus until God softens our hearts. Without God’s grace, people get what they want, and those that reject Jesus will not have his eternal life.

In this chapter, God’s people didn’t want Jesus; they didn’t desire Him. God was revealing to them the plan to save them, but He knew their hearts were hard and that they would refuse the plan. God sent His Son to save us, and many of us still reject God’s call to eternal life due to our blindness.

Prayer:

God almighty, I pray you’ll open our eyes and hearts to receive your mercy, love, and protection. Please have mercy on all people, and let them see your plan that leads to eternal life.
