Romans 6:22-23
God gives us the freedom to choose the path of our life. What is freedom? The right to choose between living a life succumbing to the temptation of sin, or on the other hand, resisting the temptation of sin and living the righteous life, following in the footsteps of Jesus.
In Romans 6, Paul explains the choice that we have to serve sin or to serve righteousness. Either sin or God will have authority over our lives. If you allow sin to rule your life, the result is death. Sin sows death. In contrast, allowing God the authority over your life results in the freedom of eternal life.
We are freed from trying to earn eternal life by the gift of God. This gift is freely and graciously given when we turn our life over to God. Christ paid the price for our sin with his death. We have the freedom to accept either the gift of redemption or the consequences of sin. If we allow God to have power over our lives, he will guide us through the trials and tribulations we encounter. True freedom comes when we choose to serve Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, let me be your servant. I choose to follow you each day. Lead and guide me through my life, so that others may see you. Thank you for your gift of eternal life. Amen.
